Submissions
The Morningside Post is an independent news and opinion publication at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). We strive to publish compelling human stories and perspectives that shed light on complex issues, expose readers to new viewpoints, and propose solutions to global problems. We welcome pitches and submissions from the Columbia community and beyond.
We typically seek the following types of pitches and submissions:
Topical opinion pieces
Commentary or explainers about policy and/or politics
Coverage of local, national, or international news and Columbia events
SIPA stories (human-interest stories, reflections, interviews, profiles, humor/satire, creative pieces ranging from poetry to podcasts)
NYC reviews, recommendations (culture, arts, food, lifestyle)

Draft submissions are typically 500-800 words, but shorter or longer pieces may be considered. Submissions in any language are welcome, though we request the inclusion of English translations when possible.
Submissions should follow Associated Press style and are subject to editing for clarity, accuracy, and length. We reserve the right to final editing and publishing privileges on all submissions.
